Seven

Wow. Just ran across this image from 2009 while looking for an old photo. This was my first attempt at a composite portrait. I was really in a creative groove at the time and learning a lot… pushing to do something for myself.

Being a creative means you HAVE to create. Write, draw, paint, build, carve, craft, sew, cook, bake, speak, sing, act, perform, play, etc.  In some form or fashion you have to express yourself. Or you get depressed. That can easily happen if you’re on your own and get into a rut.  It can be crippling if someone works to keep you from expressing yourself…  makes it their goal to keep you down. But ultimately you have to break out of your own chains. Turn on your own light.

So this image represents a transition in my life. Growth as an artist and also the beginning of a black patch I can’t get back. And thankfully, I don’t want it back.

On our own we are never whole, but with Christ we are complete.  And we can move forward with that promise.  No looking back.  No standing still with regret, guilt, shame, or victim mentalities…

Hebrews 12:1  Good News Translation (GNT)

God Our Father

12 As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.

My dad asked my mom and I JUST yesterday morning if he could read to us from a list of the Seven hundred something instances that the number seven is used in the Bible… And today? –I find this. Hmm.

(And if you are a graphic design or photography geek, don’t judge my work here to harshly.. I was doing “stand-ins” for where I would later position my clients. Don’t zoom in for the missing arms and legs..) 😉
